- In a crowded Metro, it is customary for a man to stand and let a woman have the seat, especially if it is an older woman. People should also make room for women with a small child to sit with the child.
- When going into an Orthodox Church, women should have their hair covered with a scarf, veil, or hat, while men should leave their head bare. Also, women may be refused entrance if they are wearing trousers or do not have their legs and arms covered.
- In museums, theaters, and other public places, you will be required to leave your coats at a cloak-room.
- It is fine to take pictures in Red Square, but is forbidden in churches and in many museums.
